POLITICAL MURDERS.

FACTIONS IN MEXICO. ASSASSINS IN AMBUSH. FURTHER BLOODSHED FEARED. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.».) Reuter. MEXICO CITY. Aug. 25. A member of the Mexican Congress, Scnhor Pineda, and a companion were assassinated at Oolina, presumably by ll political enemies. The assassins killed their victims from ambush, and escaped undetected. A pistol battle in the city between rival members of Congress was only prevented by the intervention of soldiers on guard at the Chamber of Deputies. The rivalry among politicians is so bitter that trouble is expected if they meet where there are no police or military. RELIGIOUS CONFLICT. AN ECONOMIC BOYCOTT. BAD EFFECT ON BUSINESS. Reuter. MEXICO CITY. Aug. 25. The newspapers to-day publish statements which are attributed to official circles to the effect that the Mexican Government has decided that when priests attempt to resume church services it will refuse to allow any priest who is known to be opposed to the religious laws to do so. There is no prospect of an early settlement of the controversy or of the lifting of the economic boycott. Gloom in business circles is increasing every day.
