AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP.

The Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship S was advanced a further stage yesterday at the showrooms of. Bil- ( liard3. Limited. The game between L. Rogers and C. A. Stevenson in the afternoon, proved to be very keen, and, although •Rogers won by S3 points, it was only Stevenson's persistent bad lack with the running of the balls that prevented him from making the score much closet - . The final scores were:— Rogers, 500; Stevenson, 417. The best breaks were: Rogers, ,22, 20, 23, 29, 30 and 39. ,Stevenson, 25, The first eemi-final between K. Tate and M. D. White attracted a large gathering in the evening. Both players started off well, and Tate gained applause for some' well-played individual shots. White was first to reach 100, but was only a. few points to the good. A little later White made a good all-round break of 35, followed by a j break of 25. Tate's next break was 24. Playing freely, White soon added another 35 to his credit and passed the 200 mark with a good lead, which he continued to increase as the game ,werit on.
