COMMUNITY SINGING.
ENTHUSIASTIC LAST DAY, Hundreds were turned away from Fullers' Opera House at' mid-dav yesterday, when the last community singing gathering of the season was held. Twelve weekly " sings " have been held this year and, in order to ensure their continuity when the Town Hall has been engaged,- the committee has been , given permission to use the Opera House. The gatherings have been more popular this year than formerly, and' over £IOO has been collected for non-endowed city charities. Nearly £3O was taken yesterday. Mr. J. A. Warnock, deputy-Mayor, occu ; , pied "the chair, and the duties of song-* leader were performed." by Mr. George Ward, of the Snapshot Revue Company, assisted by the Be v. Jasper Calder. A stirring song", " The \ agabond," was tendered by Mr. William Beresford, of the revue company. Sirs. Bamngton Snow acted as accompanist.
