BAPTIST TABERNACLE.
PROGRESS DURING THE YEAR.
INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP.
The meeting of, the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle was held last evening, Mr. F, N. Andrews presiding.
Tho report showed the membership had advanced by 36,.the roll standing at 813, including country and overseas members. Every department of the work had progressed .very satisfactorily. There had beeii prosperity, both spiritual and financial, and this spoke well for the loyalty of the members during 'the absence of the pastor, the Rev. J. W. Kemp.'* The Sunday School and young people's work had been very encouraging, a marked degree of intorest having been displayed hy the students.
• Reference was made to Baptist Union matters, including the election to the presidency of Mr. F, N. Andrews and the establishment of the New Zealand Baptist College in Auckland' with its quarters at the Tabernacle and with the Rev. J, J. North as principal. A sound financial position was revealed in the treasurer's report., ' Duripg the year £6708 10s 5d had been received and more than half of this had been devoted to the furthering of missions and causes outside the direct needs of the Church. The election of officers resulted:—Secrotary, Mr. S. T. Page; treasurers, Messrs. W. H. Lamb and F. S. Battley; Sunday School superintendent, Mr. H. T. H. Grave; choirmaster, Mr. A. E. Wilson] pianiste, Mrs. Brame Qlark: Christian endeavour loader, the Rev. Russell Grave; minute secretary, Mr'. W. A.' Kerdon; registrars, Messrs. S. Barry and A. B. Wilson: hon. deacon, Mr. H. J.-Edmiston; hon. elder, Rev. J. J. North. Messrs; Cowrie and Waikham were, added to the elders' committee and Mr. L. Clark to the deacons' committee.
