DEVONPORT RATES.
GENERAL REDUCTION MADE.
The Devonport Borough Council last evening decided upon the rates for the year. The general rate was fixed at 2£d, ( compared.with 9 7-8 d last year, the lighting rate at id,, compared with 9-16 d, arid the interest rate at compared with 2gd,- making a total.of.6d on the unimproved value, compared with 6 3-16 d last year. " ' The hospital rate, assessed on the capital value,, was fixed at 316 d, compared with last year. The annual charge for refuse and sanitation services was fixed at 15s, the same as last year. With regard to the water supply account, the charges for, metered, supply will be the same as last year, l-6d per 1000 gallons, with a ■ninimum charge of 15s a half-yeai, and oremises on the rate basis will be charged at 2 per cent, on the annual value, instead of 2i, per cent.
