SURVEYS FOR NEW ROUTE. WORK OF THE DEPARTMENT. [from our own correspondent. J TAURANGA, Tuesday. . The provision of better direct road communication between Tau'ranga and Rotorua has been claiming the attention of the ■Government: The Public Works Department has surveyed several new deviations With 'ai view' to eliminating steep grades on the old route, and has also carried out improvement works at, various.. parts. , Liberal financial pro-/ vision has' been made on the Estimates for the Tauranga-Rotorua direct road, the total moneys available being between £12,000 and' £13,000. In addition to this a. sum of about £2BOO is to be found by local bodies, so. that altogether over £15,000 is available for the road. 4
