NEW SPORTS GROUND.
GIFT TO MOUNT ROSKILL. ! AN AREA bF SIX ACRES. MR. F. S. POTTER'S GENEROSITY. Another valuable sports ground is projected in the suburbs, the Mount. Roskill Road Board receiving last evening the offer of six acres as a free gift from Mr. Frederick S. Potter. The land is in Queenstown* Road, bordering the eastern side of the Pah farm. Mr. Potter is conveying the land to the board under conditions which the chairman. Mr. J. J. Preston, described as a very generous gift. No buildings are, to be erected, except those required for a park or sports ground, and the board is not to let the land except for grazing for the first five years, in which case the income is to be used for improving the property. The donor added to his offer that if at the end of five years the district considered the land would be a burden, it might be conveyed back to him. He also asked that the park, if accepted, Vie called Seymour Park, Seymour being his mother's maiden name. The~ chairman reminded members that Mr. Potter had contributed £6OO toward the expense of draining the neighbourhood, and on his motion the gift was received with thanks.
