WORK OF HOUSEMAID.
HER DUTIES IN A HOTEL. POINT RAISED IN COURT. [BY TELEGRAPH.-—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GBEYMOTJTH, Tuesday Should a houemaid employed at a hotel scrub out the bar? This question was put to the magistrate, Mr. Meld rum, in the Police Court this morning, when the inspector of awards proceeded against a Greymouth licensee for requiring a housemaid to scrub out the bar. The inspector said the point raised was of Dominion-wide interest and the magistrate could, if he so desired, refer it to the Arbitration Court, whose previous decisions tended to keep the duties of housemaids separate from bar work. Tha solicitor . for the defence, Mr. Hannan, said the bar was part of the house and the cleaning of it came within the duties of a housemaid. The magistrate reserved his decision.
