SELECTING TOWN CLERK. DECISION NOT YET REACHED,. RESIGNATION OF MR. PATTERSON [ BY: TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] "WELLINGTON, Friday. ' For over three hours last night the Wellington City Council', sitting in committee, discussed the question of the appointment of a new town clerk. At the conclusion of the meeting a brief statement was made by the Mayor to the effect that it had been decided to invite two Australian applicants to interview the council. Certain of the New Zealand applicants were also being considered. The Mayor also stated that the council had accepted the resignation of Mr. A. J. Paterson from the office of city engineer, to take effect as from the end of the month. Mr. Paterson would be granted six! months' leave of absence on full pay.
