MISSIONARY EFFORT.
EAST AND WEST EXHIBITION.
Arrangements are now well in hand for the " East and West " Exhibition to be held in tho Town Hall from August 23 to 28 under tho auspices of the Anglican Bourd of Missions.
The uxhibitior, proper will be held in the tnaiin hall, which will be specially decorated for the occasion. Courts will be constructed representing the different countries where mission work is carried on, including a most attractive Esquimaux court. At thfcse courts will be shown large numbers of curios of unique and interesting description. On the stage the exhibition choir of 350 voices will render excerpts from oratorios and other items. There ivill also be orchestral music, and a Chinese band in costume will give examples of Chinese national music. Every liight there will be a grand pageant procession of 700 in Eastern costume. In the concert chamber evevy afternoon and evening, special entertainments will be givpn, including a Maori entertainment by a party of Wanganui Maoris selected by Rev. F. Bennett. Under their chief, they will present ancient Maori songs, dances and games, soma of them never before seen at any public entertainment. At all courfa in the main hall short lecturettes will be given at intervals by experts on the countries nepresented und the whole exhibition, as well as being instructive, should prove most entertaining.
