THE ROYAL SHOW.

WORK OF COMMITTEE. FLORAL FETE ARRANGED. TROPHIES FOR COMPETITION. The general committee of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association met yesterday, the chairman, Mr. W. W. Massey, presiding. A number of matters relating to the forthcoming Royal Show were considered. The secretary, Mr. A. D. Stanley, reported that the South Island branch of the Sheep Breeders' Association had donated £lO 10s for the show. The Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company would again contribute £SO for prizes in the export butter and cheese classes. The Auckland stock auctioneers had provided prizes of £lO 10s each for fat cattle and fat wethers suitable for the butchers' trade.

A letter was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Friesian Asso ciation, stating that the association had decided to contribute £IOO toward the cost of transport of Friesian exhibits to the show.

The secretary reported that a number of handsome trophies had been donated for competition at the Royal Show and others had been promised. It was decided to make suitable acknowledgment to the various donors.

Mr. A. J. Stratford reported that about £l5O had been collected for the floral fete at the show. A programme consisting chiefly of competitions for decorated motor-cars had beeu drawn up. It was decided to add to the programme an open event for all classes of cars and an open championship event. A special committee, consisting of Messrs. M. G. McArthur, G. C. Codlin, A, Brooks and H. Grierson, was appointed to arrange matters relating to the Kennel Club Show.

The matter of holding ovening entertainments at the show ground during the period of the show was referred to the programme committee.

In reference to the negotiations between the association and the Railways Department to provide a frontage and entrance to the association's property at Otahuhu, a letter was received from the association's solicitors, Messrs. Reyburn, McArthur and Boyes, stating that the Minister of Railways regarded the two pieces of land taken by the department as the association's contribution to tho proposed overhead bridge. The piece of land, comprising two acres two roods, would be formed into a road, provided the association paid half tho cost of construction. The letter was referred to the Finance Committee.

A sub-committee was appointed to act with representatives of tho Industrial Association to consider and report on the matter of a site for the Winter Show.
