LECTURES.
An illustrated lecture entitled " Scott arid Sootland," to commemorate the anniversary of Sir Walter Scott's birthday, will be given by' Mr. H. Oakley Browne nt the Princess Theatre to-morrow even-
ing. The prophecy of the eminent scientist, Sir Oliver Lodge, that the secret of life and of the nature of God and the spiritual world will shortly be discovered will form the subject of a lecturette by the Rev. Albert Thornhill at the Unitarian Church to-morrow evening. A lecture on "Is Life Understood ?" will be given in Scots Hall to-morrow afternoon by Mrs. Rosella Clark. "An Evening Witu Robert Louis Stevenson " will be the next item in the Grey Lynn Library course ou Wednesday evening. A lecturette on Stevenson will be delivered by Mrs. J. Barr, and a selection of Stevenson's songs will be rendered. A Scottish night will be held in the Unity Hall next Wednesday evening, the occasion being an illustrated lecture by the Rev. Dr. Thomas Carter, who will vividly portray the land of Burns, Scott and Carlyle. A lecture on " Capitalism, Its Effects," will be given in the Strand Theatre tomorrow evening by Mr. A. G. Oborne. Musical items will be given by Miss Nellie Lingard, Mrs. J. L. King and Messrs. George Barnes and Arthur Wright. Mr. James Hutton will be the accompanist.
