AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE, THE WEEK'S TRANSACTIONS.
Business on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday was confined almost entirely to the banking and mining sections. There was good inquiry for Government securities but although sellers quoted freely, no transactions were recorded. In banks Nationals of New Zealand sold at £6 16s. New Zealands changed hands at the current price of 61s 9d, and Unions of Australia at the slightly higher figure of £ls Is. In insurance there was steady demand for New Zealands, South British and Standard, offers for New Zealands showing an advance of 3d. There was no change in the rates for either of the issues of Auckland Gas. In miscellaneous there was sale of Electrolytic Zinc preference at 36s 6d, more being wanted at 36s 3d. Taranaki Oils sold at lis 6d. In mining Alburnias were done at 4s 4d and 4s sd, Kawaraus at 6s 3d, New Waiotahis, 4s paid, at Is 7d, and Waihi Grand Junctions at Is lid. Following is a summary of transactions since Friday of last week. In the second column is given the return, based on the last dividend, from investment at the quoted price. In the case of Government and other terminable securities the return includes redemption. The first column gives the figure at which the latest sale was made during the week:—
