HEROIN IN TOMBSTONE.

SEIZURE AT HAMBURG. INGENIOUS SMUGGLING DEVICE. In the appropriate disguise of tombstones 457 tins of heroin was seized by the Hamburg police as they were on the point of being shipped for Shanghai a few weeks ago. They had come from Budapest and were very ingeniously camouflaged, being embedded in slabs of artificial sandstone. However, the police had evidently heard something about the consignment and insisted on applying a hammer and chisel to one of the slabs. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the consignees' agent, an American, who was living in great style at one of the leading Hamburg hotels. The authoities say they believe that they have got on the tracks of a large international organisation for the smuggling of narcotics into China. • V V.- . ' ;
