AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE. COMPARATIVELY QUIET DAY. Business was comparatively quiet on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. In Government securities there was a transaction in War Loans, 1938, 4£ per cent., at £95 15s. More were wanted at £96 12s 6d, sellers asking £97. In banks New Zoalands had sale at 61s 9d, thus sustaining the slight advance recorded on the previous day. More were available at the sale price, buyers offering 61s 6d. In insurance! there were no sales. For South British 58s was offered, sellers quoting 59s 6d. New Zealands closed slightly firmer at 39s and 38s 3d. In gas Auckiands, contributing issue, changed hands at the current price of 12s. In shipping Huddart-Parkers were done at 455. Late buyers offered 44s 9d, sellers quoting at 6d more. In breweries the shares of C. L. Innes and Company, Limited, sold at 16s. Sellers, who had previously quoted 19s, withdrew _at the last call. In miscellaneous there was a sale of Taranaki Oils at lis 6d. The market closed at lis 9d and lis 4d, against 12s 3d and lis 6d on Wednesday. In mining Alburnias sold at .4s 3d, a decline of 4d compared with the previous day. More were sought at the sale price, sellers quoting 4s 4d. Kawaraus declined, selling at 6s 4d and 6s sd. lhe market closed at 6s 5d and 6s 4d, compared with 6s 9d and 6s 6d on the previous day. New YVaiotahis,- contributing issue, changed hands at Is 5d at®the second call. Late buyers offered Is 4 d, sellers asking Is 7d. New Zeehans were firm, a sale taking place at 2s 6d, at which price more were available, buyers offering 2s. There was little change in Waihis, which were done at L9s 3d. Innes and Company, Limited, 16s; Taranaki Oil, lis 6d; Alburnia, 4s 3d; Kawarau, 6s 4d and 6s sd; New Waiotahi,.. contributing issue, Is sd; New Zeehan Consolidated. 2s 6d; Waihi, 19s 3d.
