OPERATIONS AT WAIHI. LATEST CRUSHING RETURN. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] WAIHI. Thursday.. The following information concerning the operations of the Waihi Goldmining Company for the four-weekly period ended July 31 has been transmitted to London by cable: —A total of 17,419 tons of ore was crushed for a result of' 6032 fine ounces of gold and 24,813 fine ounces of silver No. 8 Level.—Driving east on the north leader the next 46ft. assays 22s per ton. The width of the lode varies from 3in. to 9in. No. 10 level: The north-west crosscut is out 370 ft. The country rock is favourable. No. 11 level, Empire lode: In the crosscut at 104 ft. east .the next 48ft. is mostly country rock. The next 2jft. is quartz of an assay value of 9s 6d per ton. The last 7ft. is country rock. At 116 ft. in the crosscut 44ft. was driven to the east in a mixture of quartz, the country assaying 3s 6d per ton. No. 14 level, Edward lode: Driving south of the Dunlop crosscut the next'23ft. assays 24s 6d per ton. Empire lode, at 138 ft.: In the Dunlop south-east crosscut we have driven to the east 19ft. in quartz assaying 10s per ton, and to the west 30ft., the assay value being 10s 6d per .ton.
