Comedy Prince fell at the . first hurdle when Comical was showing the way to Rangatahi, Little River and Ngata. Then Cj>mi«al was steadied and ill the end of halt a mile Little River drew out with a lead of six lengths, Rangatahi being at the head of the next, bunch. Conlioal's performance made him look a high-class hurdler. Ngata had every chance but he was beaten before going two miles. Apparently he ia not as good on heavy ground as on a hard track. Civility was a pronounced favourite for the August Handicap, with Le Choucas.next in demand. Tho first to become prominent ■were Imitation and Moorland, but they were done with Below the distance, Solferite and Centrepiece being left in charge, with Kilbronsyth moving up. Centrepiece won decisively by a length from Solferite, who beat Xilbronsyth by half a length. Three lengths away came Tuahine: Tho winner is a moody customer, but a good one on hia day. *- , - The Spreydon Hurdles. ' .* For the flpreydon Hurdle Handicap Revel ■was favourite. When tho field settled down Axle was showing the way to Happy Days, with Revel next. Axle gradually opened out a gap. being six lengths in front at the mile post. Two furlongs further on Bonatic fell. Whirrnclifle and Axlo jumped the last hurdle together, with Glument bandy. Wharn cliff e drew out -and won by two lengths, while Glument beat Axle by half a length. Rangi Sario. who came from a long way back, was fourth, just in front of Revel. Wharucliffe was a gift to his present owner, 'Mr. J. J. Lewis, of Ashburton, from Mr. John Grigg, tho onlv condition being that if Mr. Lewis at any lime wished to sell him Mr. Grigs was to have the first refusal. The concluding event, the Islington Handicap, drew a field of eleven. Niprtv was a warm favourite, with Olympic and Heather Lad next. Chickwhoat was first out, but was allowed to drop back. Mountain Lion going on from Nipny. with Apache. Deucalion. Rivalry, Jubilance and Rotiex handy. Jubilance led to the straight but was beaten at the distance, where Chickwheat and Rivalry moved up, Chickwheat went on to win by nearly two lengths, whifo in a great, battle Ninpy got up to beat Rivalry by a with ,Rouev another head away. Nippy finished well to get second. Nibpy and Lo Choucas will not run again af. the meeting as they are booked to leave for home to-morrow night.
