AN ALLIGATOR'S PAW.

RUDE SHOCK FOR ROWER. Rising suddenly from the water in Baffle Creek, near Mackay, Queensland, j recently, an alligator put its paw on the nose of a boat wherein a settler named William Rodhmann, was approaching the right bank of the waterway, after a visit to another settler across the creek. The boat rocked. dangerously and began to sink under the alligator's weight. Then, almost as suddenly as it had appeared, it slid back into tho water. It is tf?n years since an alligator was last seen in this stream.
