REST ROOM FOR MOTHERS.
Sir, —I have njad Miss Basten's letter in the Herald and am glad to learn (if true) that the City Council has no power to build the rest room in the Symonds Street reserve. In any case I think, it would be much wiser to rent rooms until at least the civic square question is finally disposed of. As it is only mothers with very young children who want such rooms at the public e-xpense (the other childless women can pay for their own club rooms), the rooms should be in a place convenient for the class who really want them most, and in this connection I think the reserve at the corner of Karangnhape Road and Ponsonby Road would do, having regard to the inevitable widening 01 both in the near future.
