PENROSE SUB-STATION.
BUILDING TO BE ENLARGED. Work has been proceeding during the past two months in preparing the foundations for the extension to the Government's hydro-electric sub-station at Penrose. The existing sub-station, which measures 50ft. by 35ft., is to be.enlarged to house the machinery that will be necessary before the promised supply from Arapuni can be delivered to the Auckland and Waitemata Power Boards in 1928. The increased- accommodation will be given by the erection of a concrete building, twice the length of the existing building. The measurements of the substation, when completed, will be 115 ft. by 50ft. Explosives have been used to excavate the ground for the foundations and it will be possible to make a start with the erection of the building shortly.
