NEW DAIRYING SEASON.
AN AUSPICIOUS OPENING. LARGE output of cheese. BUTTER DECREASE BALANCED. FIRST FOUR WEEKS' FIGURES. The new dairying season has opened auspiciously in tho Auckland Province, the production of buter-fat during the first four weeks of the season having excluded last season's output for the similar period. . Returns furnished by the Farmers' Freezing Company show tho butter received for grading during the four weeks 'ended July 28 totalled 8080 boxes, compared with 8586 for July, 1925, a decrease of 506 boxes. Cheese receipts totalled 1294 crates, as against 807, an increase of 487 crates. The decrease in butter is more than compensated for by the increased cheese receipfs. Reduced to the equivalent in butter-fat the increase in butter and cheese combined is approximately 57901b. Fairly good clearances in both commodities have been effected during the period. Butter delivered totalled 66,697 boxes, compared with 31,428, and cheese delivered totalled 4849 crates, compared with 599. There is a considerable increase in the quantities of both butter and cheese on hand at the end of the first four weeks of the new season. Stocks of butter total 43,589 boxes, compared with 21,473, and cheese on hand amounts to 5593 crates, against 1802 The output for the first month of the season represents winter milking. , The majority of the herds of the province will not be coming to profit for a few weeks and the prospects for the season can be assessed more correctly ivhen the results of the operations for August are available. Reports from the country districts state a fairly good winter lias been experienced and the milking herds should come to profit in good condition.
