LAND VALUATIONS.
OBJECTIONS BY OWNERS. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] ' THAMES. Friday. "Although 34 objections to the Government valuation of farms on the Plains had been lodged for the consideration of the Assessment Court yesterday only seven objectors appeared in support of their statements that the valuation on their respective properties was too high. Of this number three subsequently withdrew. , .Vivian Young assessed his farm at £IOO less than the Government valuation, but after consultation with the Court he agreed to withdraw his objection. HaUyburton Johnston objected to the Government valuation of his-farm of 157 acres as being, too high. The Government valuation was capital £5410, unimproved £3160, . and improvements £2250. He agreed to offer the land to the Government as provided by statute. Mrs. M. Markham placed a value of £ll4O capital, £570 unimproved, and £570 improvements, against the Government valuation of £ll4O, £540, and £SOO respectively on her property at Turua. The Court reserved its decision, which will be made known at Auckland next Thursday. . ,
