Some, minor damage was caused in the borough: during the recent heavy; rains. The heavy flow of water in the Mangavvhero Stream did slight damage to the and breastwork at the Mangawhero Terrace, while the footbridge to the Bowling Club was left in a most uncertain condition and a portion of the footpath was undermined by. the Mangateti Stream. The'. Waimarino branch of the Plunket Society has devoted the last week to a strong endeavbur to raise funds for the new Plunket buildings. Dances, street shops, euchre arid bridge parties were organised. . The appeal concludes to-morrow in the official opening ceremony, the building being opened by "Miss Patrick, director of Plunket nursing. " > The Ohakune Amateur Dramatic Club journeyed to Raetihi on Wednesday evening, where a presentation of'the threeact farce, "Lord Richard in, the Pantry," was staged to a fair audience in the Theatre Royal. The proceeds went; to the Ruapehu mountain track funds.
