IMPERIAL CONFERENCE
PROPOSED POSTPONEMENT. MR. BRUCE NOT OPPOSED. A. and N.Z. MELBOURNE. July 27. The Prime Minister, Mr. S. M. Bruce, announces that he is prepared to agree to a postponement of the Imperial Conference until October 19 if that course is necessary to suit the interests of the Canadian Ministry. Mr. Bruce does not propose to alter his plans, however. He will leave Fremantle for England on September 6.
LOANS TO DOMINIONS. SUGGESTED LIMITATION. Renter. LONDON. July 26. In the House of Commons, Sir Frederick Wise, Conservative member for llford, asked the Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, if he would place on the agenda of the Imperial Conference the question of a suspension of the Trustee Act, 1900, as regards loans to the Dominions for three years, owing to the fact that the large conversion loans of the British Government would fall due in the coming three years.
Mr. Amery replied: "Certainly not The adoption of the suggestion would in jure Empire development."
