OHAKUNE AFFAIRS.
THE PROPERTY MARKET. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OHAKUNE, Tuesday. The sale of businesses in the town has resolved itself almost into an epidemic, no fewer than six properties having changed hands during the last month. One of these was the Argonaut Hotel, which went to a Taihape purchaser.
The annual ball of the local branch of the Oddfellows' Lodge was held in* the Town Ha 11.,, The attendance was large, and the function proved a- great success. The secretary and committee are to be complimented ,on the decorations and admirable management of the' programme. A team from Ivaitieke journeyed to Ohakune Junction to try conclusions with a B representative team from the Ruapehu Rugby Sub-union. The game was of a poor" standard, although in the latter stages the scores came quickly. The result was in favour of Ruapehu, the final scores being 22—11. Heavy downpours of rain since Saturday last have swelled all creeks and rivers in the district to an extreme state of flood, mariy ( of the smaller foot and traffic bridges being threatened. Influenza and other sickness is very prevalent in the borough, and but fewhouseholds have been free from illness.
