BOROUGH OF NORTHCOTE.
POST OFFICE APPLICATION. Tie Northcote Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. C. A. Deuxbeiry, presiding. Mr. A. Harris, M.P., forwarded a reply from the Postmaster-General stating that la:;t year's appropriation of £SOO for erection of a post office at Northcote would be renewed on this year's Estimates. However, the department's commitments would not allow consideration of erection of a building at present. On the motion of the Mayor it was deeded to point out to Mr. Harris that a section for a site was purchased about tea years ago, when it was considered by the then Postmaster-General that a post ofiice building was necessary. 'lie Mayor stated that arrangements hi:l been made for a bank overdraft fnjiinst debentures for temporarily financ.i.g ratepayers' drainage connections. The time limit for house connections had been extended to September 30. The Auckland Hospital Board intimated 'that- any attempt to interfere with the t inure of the "hospital endowment at Northcote would be- strongly resisted. Improvements in reserves and some side streets, including the addition of ornanental shrubs, were authorised.
