ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
MANAGEMENT AFFAIRS.
JUNIOR PLAYER OVER AGE. PENALTY ON CLUB REDUCED. The Management, Committee of the Auckland Football Association met last evening. Mr. Andrew Menzies presiding.
An appeal was made by the North Shore Club against the punishment meted out to its sixth division team which, for playing a boy over age, had been penalised to the extent of having 16 championship points deducted. It was proved that the club made the statement regarding the lad's age in all good faith, a mistake having been made by his parents. The appeal was against the decision of the Junior Management Committee.
After hearing evidence and discussing the matter fully, a procedure which took over an hour, it was decided that only two championship points would be deducted. The boy in question will be suspended from playing in the schools competition as well as in the grade matches. Kegrading of players was granted as follows:—Moon, of Thistle, from senior to second grade; 11. R. Haycock, from Glen Eden to North Shore; W. S. Belsham, from Pensonby to Richmond Wanderers. The application from P. Forsyth for a transfer to Onehunga from Northcote was objected to by the latter club, as the player was in possession of gear belonging to them. The transfer was deferred pending the return of the gear. The Ponsonby Club intimated that owing to loss of players through injuries it was reluctantly compelled to withdraw its second grade B team from the competition. This was approved, and Davies and Holy, of the B team, were regraded to A section. A letter from the South Auckland Association thanked the local centre for courtesies extended to the Huntiy-Thistle Club while passing through Auckland to play its Chatham Cup match at Hikurangi. The letter also suggested a match being played between third division representative teams from the two associations.
