SMART SLIPPERS.

The latest creations in the slipper world are a mass of fluffiness, an effect which is achieved either by bands of feathers or marabout laid on as to encircle the vampjNPurly ostrich feathers or oocks' feather^ 5 %re chosen for this purpose, and so very fluffy and voluminous are they at times that the entire vamp, with the exception of the tip of the toe, is entirely covered. The same effect is obtained with baijds of marabout. White is rarely chosen as a colour, but rather bright shades of yellow, green, blue, purple, and red, and generally to match the feathers or marabout that trim the dressing gown. Another pretty idea is to encircle the vamp with a wreath of flowers. Westeria lends itself admirably to such a purpose, likewise sweet pea or tiny roses. Again, other vamps are covered'by an immense rose, peony, or camellia, made of lame, satin, or silk, and laid right across the vamp. Tiie slipper of quilted satin still remains a prime favourite, whether fitted with heels or not, and this, too, can be decorated with a row of small handmade satin roses outlining the vamp. Most slippers are fitted with heels, these davs, as this takes from them the "sloppy" appearance the heel-less variety are apt to create, and most of them are cut with sharply-rounded toes.
