GREY BREAD IN' BELGIUM. ROYALTY TO SET EXAMPLE. * DENYING THEMSELVES LUXURIES By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. BRUSSELS. July 25. Although the misfortunes of France in respect of finance will assuredly react on the Belgian franc every effort is being made to stem a panic. The King and Queen of the Belgians are setting an example by denying themselves luxuries. From Co-morrow Their Majesties will share with the meanest of their subjects the Government's grey bread. The universal use of this bread is expected to save 500,000 francs a day. Resentment is being shown in Brussels against American, German and Dutch tourists. The Government has consequently issued a decree closing cabarets, cafes and dance halls in order to discourage tourists from coming to Belgium.
