TO-DAY'S WEATHER.
HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST
The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. If. M. Vincent last evening:—Squally and unsettled weather is indicated. with heavy rain at intervals. Flooded rivers in western districts of both islands Westerly to north-westerly winds, strong to gale. Seas rough. Barometer, midnight, 29,78 in. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government, meteorologist reported last evening as follows :—Present indications are for strong westerly to southerly winds, cloudy and unsettled weather and rain probable generally. Further heavy rain is to be expected with rivers flooded in the West Coast districts and snow on the higher levels in the South. The barometer has a falling tendency, but will rise everywhere shortly. RAINFALL RECORD. Fall in City for 24 hours ended midnight, July 26 (Herald gauge) .. .24in.
