PUNISHED FOR BIGAMY.
TWELVE MONTHS' DETENTION [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Monday. In the Supreme Court to-day thfe Chief Justice, Hon. C. P. Skerrett, sentenced Lewis Joseph Ham to a reformative period not exceeding 12 months for bigamy. His Honor said he was taking into consideration prisoner's good character and the favourable police report, but the law had to be enforced, as bigamy was regarded as a serious crime.
