BANKRUPT CHINESE.
FRUITERER AT HAMILTON.
[ex telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Monday.
An adjourned meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Wing Lea, a Chinese fruiterer, of Hamilton, was held to-day. There was not a quorum present. Mr. V. H, Sanson, the deputy' official assignee, presided. Bankrupt was questioned at length regarding the issuing of post-dated cheques. He said he went to Palmerston North, Wellington, Wanganui and New Plymouth "to get money, but could not get any although his countrymen paid most of his travelling expenses. He denied that.he had ever spent money on gambling." His takings did not come up to expectations. He admitted having lost £660 in four and a-half months through his business. The meeting was adjourned until August 16, in order to allow bankrupt time to prepare a proper statement.
