Maimoa and Tonfariro sailed from Auckland on Saturday for Wellington to continue unloading cargo from England. The Westport Coal Company's steamer CaUcpus completed discharge of coal on Satusrday afternoon and sailed in the evening on her return trip to Wellington. En route from Napier the Wiinui was to leave Gisborne for Auckland at 3 o'clock yesterday morning. She is due e.irly- this afternoon and will berth at Prince's Wharf. Th® Northern Company advises that the Motu was to leave Opotiki for Auckland, via Tauranga, on Saturday. The Ctimai arrived at Opotiki on Saturday and she is io leave this afternoon for Auckland. The Waipahi. with cargo from South Island ports, sailed from Lyttelton on Saturday for Wellington and Auckland. She is expected here on Wednesday and after discharge will proceed to Southern ports, via Gisborne and Napier.

THE SOUTHERN CROSS. The Melacesian Mission steamer Southern Cross, which arrived at a late itour on Friday night from the South-west Pacific, "berthed on Saturday morning at King's Wnarf. The steamer was absent from Auckland three and a-half months and visited 150 mission stations in the New Hebrides and Solomon Groups, steaming 9000 miles. The Southern Cross sailed from Auckland on Aprii 10 and reached Vila, her first port pi call, on April 16. Owing to her bunker supply running short she called at Noumea or. Jiuia 19 and took in £OO tons of cosi. Afterwards she returned to the New Hebrides and continued her _ cruise until July 13, when the cleared Vila for Auckland. On July 17 she called at Norfolk Island and two days later resumed her .voyage to Auckland. The weather during the cruiss was generally fine, but strong head winds and rough seas prevailed on the .run from' Norfolk Island to Auckland. The next cruise to the mission stations •will, commence next September and the steamer will be moored in the stream until she is recomniissioned ag&in.

WIRRAL FROM MONTREAL. Running under the gupices of the New Zealand Shipping Company the steamer Yurral arrived from Eastern Canadian ports on Saturday morning and berthed at Centra! Wharf. The Wirral loaded steel products at Sydney (Cape Bretan). carer at Cornerbrook (New Foundland) and general merchandise at Montreal. She sailed from Montreal on June 4 and proceeded to Norfolk (Virginia) for bunkers. Colon was recche,d on the evening of June nest day the shio cleared Balboa. Exceptionally boisterous weather was experienced in the Pacific. Two days after leaving the Canal strong head winds, ..rough seas, and a heavy southerly swell were encountered _whjch caused the steamer to pitch and roll heavily. After passing Pitcairn Island on July 8 the conditions became worse. The wind blew in a succession of gales from directions varying between North-west- and South-west. PORT CURTIS AT LONDON. With a cargo of New Zealand produce the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Curtis reached London on July 22. She was despatched from Auckland on June 8. TEKOA AT GLASGOW. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Tekoa, which was despatched from Wellington on June 17, reached Glasgow last Friday. NIAGARA AT VANCOUVER. ' With _ passengers, mail and cargo from Australia and New Zealand the Royal Mail liner Niagara reached Vancouver last Friday. Sho is scheduled to leave Vancouver nest Wednesday on her return voyage, and she is due back at Auckland on August 16. EAITUNA AND KIWITEA. . The Kaituna ia due at 5 o'clock this morning from Westport and the Kiwitea two hours later from Grey mouth and Westport. The Kaituna will unload at Prince's Wharf and the Kiwitea at King's Wharf. THE GISLA. The Norwegian motor-ship Gi3la sailed on Saturday afternoon for Wellington to replenish her oil fuel before proceeding to iiiauru Island to load another phosphate cargo. It was formerly arranged for her to bunker at Sydney. DEVON FOR LONDON. After taking in bunker coal in the stream the Federal Line steamer Devon sailed on Saturday afternoon with a full cargo of iSew Zealand produce for London, Antwerp and West of England ports. NGAKUTA SAILS TO-DAY. The Union Company's Island steamer Ngakuta is timed to sail at mid-day to-day with cargo and mail for Rarotonga and other Cook Island ports. She is loading at Queen's Wharf. ULIMAROA FOR WELLINGTON. The Huddart-Parker steamer Ulimaroa cleared Sydney at one o'clock on Friday afternoon with passengers. _ mails and cargo for Wellington, where she iB due to-morrow. On Friday she wiil sail Gil her return trip to Sydney. SITTANG ARRIVED. An arrival at Auckland last evening was the Patrick Henderson steamer Sittang from New York, under charier to the Commonwealth and Dominion Line. Her cargo consists mostly of case oil, motor-cars and .motor accessories. She will berth this morning at Queen's Wharf to 2300 tons,- the remainder being for Napier. Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She sailed from New York or. June IG, and afterwards bunkered at Norfolk and Colon. Balboa was cleared on June 26, and generally fair weather prevailed during the first week in the Pacific and strong westerly winds and rough head seas during the remainder of the voyage. Captain G. THE CITY OF SHANGHAI. From New York, via Suva, the A. and A. Line's chartered steamer City of Shanghai reached Auckland yesterday afternoon'. She berthed at Queen's Wharf to unload c£.se oil and general merchandise for this port. Her other discharging ports are Wellington, Lyttelton. Dunedin and Newcastle. fa'he sailed from New York on June 10 and after bunkering at Norfdk she cleared Panama on June 19. Fine weather prevailed to Suva, where she arrived on July 14. A quantity of cargo for Fiji was unloaded and the steamer resumed her voyage last Tuesday afternoon. After clearing Fiji she encountered strong southwest winds and rough head seas all the way to Auckland. Captain W- Mackenzie is in command, and the following are the officers: Chief. Mr. F. T. RESOLUTION IN PORT. The auxiliary schooner Resolution arrived in* pott on Saturday afternoon, having completed her second voyage to Norfolk Island. She brought back 650 cases of fruit and 300 eases and bags of kunjaraa, which will be discharged at Prince's Wharf to-day. She sailed from Auckland on July 3 and experienced moderate south-east winds almost all the way to Norfolk Island, which she reached on July 9. On the fourth day the engine broke down, and it only went again for about 24 hours during the remainder of the voyage. Cargo operations were delayed at the island by a heavy swell. She sailed on her return journey at daybreak on July 14, and experienced moderate to fresh westerly winds for the first four days. The wind then became light and variable until last Tuesday morning, when it freshened from the east, accompanied by a rough sea. The same afternoon the schooner anchored in Doubtless Bay where she sheltered for 24 hours. When the conditions moderated the voyage was resumed. Off Cape Brett a south-west gale was encountered and necessitated the schooner being hove to. She resumed her course again at two o'clock on Saturday morning, and then maße good progress to port. After repairs have been effected to the engine the schooner will load again for Norfolk Island, and she should take her departure in a few days.
