CLAIMS OF TEACHERS.

DEPUTATION TO MINISTER. SUPERANNUATION [by telegraph.—press association.] WELLINGTON. Sunday. Two matters brought before the Minister of Education, Hon. R. A. Wright, yesterday by a deputation from the New 'Z&laiid" ,r EHtfcStiori!il IhstilHte" referred to the present provisions regarding superannuation and right of appeal against non-appointment. The secretary of the institute, Mr. H. A. Parkinson, said teachers were anxious that the time they spent at training colleges should count in the computation of superannuation. He would go so far as" to say that by not allowing those years to count, the Government was filching something from the teacher. The late Minister of Education had stated that if teachers- could show him that they were entitled to count those . two years, he would see that the matter was arranged. The speaker submitted that- there been ample proof that teachers were justified in their claim. In regard to the right of appeal against non-appointment, Mr. Parkinson urged that teachers should be brought into line with other branches nf the Civil Service. Replying !6 the deputation", the Minister said that so fifr as the superannuation matter was concerned, he was with them and would bring the matter before-Cab-inet at an early date.
