NEW CONCRETE ROAD.
MT. WELLINGTON HIGHWAY.
OFFICIAL OPENING TO-DAY.
j The official opening of the three-mile concrete road between Mount Wellington and Otahuhu, postponed from last Saturday, will take place at two o'clock today. The ceremony will be performed by Mrs. James Wood, wife of the chairman of the board, who will use a pair of silver scissors to cut a tape extended over the highway. "The Otahuhu-Panmure Road," as it was previously, called, has been renamed "the Mount Wellington Highway." Invitations have been issued to representatives of local bodies and residents of the district, and a large crowd is anticipated.
An illustration of the silver scissors and the handsome carved wood receptacle presented to Mrs. Wood by the board appears on this page.
