GIFT ON GOLDEN WEDDING.
JOCKEY CLUB PRESENTATION. A happy ceremony took place ( at the office of the Takapuna Jockey Club yesterday, when the Hon. E. W. Alison, president of the club, was entertained by members in celebration of his golden wedding, which falls next Monday. Mr. W. J. Ralph presided over a large attendance. In proposing the toast of the guest, Mr. Ralph referred to Mr. Alison's association with the club since its foundation, and the assistance he had rendered to racing and all other forms of sport. His farsighted vision had played a great part in the development of the activities with which he had been connected. It was with great pleasure that, on behalf of the club, he presented Mr. Alison with a Westminster grandfather chiming clock, and a Iloyal Worcester teaset for Mrs. Alison. Warm tributes to Mr. Alison were paid by Major Coyle, Messrs. J. Gleeson, 0. E. Major, M. M. McCallum, R. Wynyard, W. Duncan and R. T. Michaels. Mr. Alison Was cheered on rising to respond. He expressed the deep J thanks of Mrs. Alison and himself for the gifts, which he could assure them would be greatly treasured. He was proud to lie a New Zealander and to have seen the many changes that had taken place with the march of progress. , The toast of the chairman was proposed by Mr. Alison. . . ....
