MAORI RUGBY TOUR.
PASSAGE MONEY TO EUROPE. PAYMENT DUE IN LONDON. (Received 8.35 p.m.) Sun. LONDON. July 20. The fares to Europe of the Maori Rugby footballers, which will amount to £3OOO, must be paid in sterling in Londoi within a few days. The French Eugby Union will therefore be forced to pay an enormous number of francs. Added to this financial obstacle is the rising cost of everything in France. The slump of the franc has thus occurred at a most unfortunate time.
POSITION STILL UNCERTAIN. ADVICE EXPECTED TO-DAY. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. The Now Zealand Rugby Union tonight had not received confirmation of the advice that,the money for the passages of the Maori team had been paid in by the French union. The position is still uncertain. At the meeting to-night the Management Committee decided to send cablegrams both to London and Paris and a definite reply is expected to-day. Meanwhile berths for members of the team to Sydney by the Marama are pencilled
