PAPATOETOE COLLISION.
CONDITION OF INJURED MEN. DRIVER DESCRIBES ACCIDENT. There was a slight improvement yesterday in the condition of Mr. S. W. Foote, who was injured in a collision between two motor-cars at the junction of Great South Road and Puhinui Road on Tuesday evening. The condition of the other injured men was also slightly better.
Further details of the accident show that in addition to the four employees of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., who were injured in the accident, the car also contained as passengers Mr. S. Webb, a clerk employed by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd., and Mr. T. Evisos, a pig buyer. Mr. J. H. Potter, the driver of the other car concerned, stated he was driving along Puhinui Road toward Great South Road, and on approaching the intersection, saw another car coming round the conifer from, the direction of Papakura. He then saw the Loan Company's car approaching rapidly in the same direction and accelerated in order to avoid being struck by it. He had almost crossed the intersection when a collision occurred. The third car continued its journey without stopping, the driver being apparently unaware that an accident had occurred. Mr. Potter had a miraculous escape. He was thrown out between the two cars, but was not injured.
