MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Kuranui.—The lower level crosscut has been extended 31ft., making a total of 121 ft. from the surface. From 30ft. to 40ft. more driving should cut the Ross Reef if the underlay of the reef keeps the same a3 in the level above. The country is still the same. Mount Lyell.—ln the Mount Lyell Mine ore extracted totalled 501 tons. In the North Mount Lyell Mine 4716 tons were extracted. In the 850 ft level tho north drive was extended to 1782 ft., through hard hejnatite chert, snowing small amount of chalcopyrite and magnetite The north drive deviation was driven to 47ft. through pyritised grey schist, containing a small amount of bornite. In the 1000 ft. level the foot wall drive was taken to 426 ft. through mixed pyritised sclHst and quartzlte, _ and completed. No. 16 crosscut was driven to 10ft. through pyritised quartzite showing a fair amount of bornite. _ At the reduction works the furnace was in blast for the full period. A total of 5180 tons blister copper were consigned to the refinery for the current year. At the concentrator the mill operated 2S7§ hours and treated 4603 tons, producing 390 tons of jig concentrates, IS2 tons of table concentrates, and 948 tons of flotation concentrates.
