MOTORISTS IN COURT.
BREACHES OF THE BY-LAWS. SEVERAL FINES IMPOSED. A number of motorists charged with breaches of the by-laws were fined by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. The following fines were imposed for failure to provide adequate lighting to vehicles: —Wilfred Eddy and Hugh M. Johnston, £2 with costs each; Charles Coward, £1 with costs; Ernest Bailey, Herbert Bellam, Alexander Service, senior, and Charles Gustafson, 10s with costs each. Harry Bailey was fined £1 for affixing an unassigned number to a bus, and was convicted and discharged for using an unregistered vehicle and using a wrong number. Failure to produce a driver's license on demand cost F. R. Amyes, Wilfred Eddy and Ernest Jackson, 10s with costs each. John Hayes and N. C. Cole-Baker were each fined £1 with costs for failing to obey traffic signals at intersections, while for a similar offence, Ernest Jackson was fined 10s with costs. Herbert Biddulph was fined £l with costs for failing to report an accident, while for passing a stationary tramcar Henry Chin was fined £2 with costs. For pillion-riding Neville H. McKinley and John Watson were each fined 10s with costs. Failure to sound his horn at a corner cost George H. Sweet 10s with costs. A fine of £1 with costs was imposed on Victor Curson for neglecting to notify change of ownership of a vehicle. Speeding on Remuera Road cost Harold H. Painter £1 with costs, while leaving cars unattended resulted in Ronald W. Yates, H. M. Johnston and J. R. Simpson each being fined 10s with costs. W. E. Phillips was fined £2 with costs for dangerous driving and R. Robertson £1 with costs for cutting'a corner.
