Brownlie, Finlayson, Stewart, and Knight. COMMENT ON SECOND TEST. MEMORIAL TO R. W. MCGREGOR. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. July 19. Commenting on the test match, All Blacks v. New South Wales, on Saturday the Sydney Morning Herald says - .'— " Once again New Zealand has to thank her magnificent forwards for they won in all phases of the game. They were superb. They secured the ball from the rucks, hne-outs and scrums with almost unfailing regularity, but it was in the dribbling rushes that their great skill was best displayed. " Many of these rushes commenced after the forwards had screwed the scrums at the command of their captain, Porter. These attacks were always a source cf anxiety to the local defenders. "The visiting backs also'gave a good display. Many of their passing rushes were executed at top speed and were delightful. They were happy in attack, sound in defence and combined well with the hard-working forwards. " It was. only the grand tackling of the home backs that kept the margin of the scores so small. The visitors deserved their win. They "were smarter in attack "and were ever on the look-out to launch counter-attacks from any position. The home players battled valiantly against their heavier and more experienced opponents and had a strenuous afternoon stemming the many New Zealand advances." The Sydney Daily Telegraph says: — " The New Zealand forwards won the match. They figured in some great dribbling rushes and handled the ball well in passing rushes. They wheeled the scrums and repeatedly broke through with the ball at toe.
" Finlayson was the best forward on the ground. He was in everything and was well supported by Stewart, Irvine and Knight." .The members of the All Black team, accompanied by officials of the New South Wales Rugby Union, visited the Church of England section of the Rook wood Cemetery at the week-end. There a memorial tablet was unveiled on the grave of R. W. McGregor, ,tho former New Zealand representative. The ceremony was performed by Porter, Lomas, representing the Thames Club, also taking part. Many tributes were paid to the deceased and several wreaths were laid on his grave.
