AIDING LEARNING.
GIFTS FOR THE UNIVERSITY.
A number of gifts to the Auckland University College were acknowledged•by the University Council at its meeting yesterday.
The gifts and the donors were:—From Mr. Frank L. Moodie, of Victoria Arcade, three valuable books to School of Architecture; to the School of Forestry, from the Dominion Federated Sawmillers' Association, valuable exhibit of timber; from the State College of Forestry, Syracuse, U.S.A., set of labelled specimens of American woods; from Mr. David Miller, Dominion entomologist, Wellington, set of entomological diagrams and microphotographs; to the Chemistry Department for library purposes from the directors of the Pukemiro Collieries, Limited, £25; to the School of Engineering from the director of Air Services, two modern aeroplane engines for demonstration purposes. An offer from Mr. E. H, Northcroit to donate to the college for the use of the faculty of law his collection of" Notable Trials " in 22 volumes was" also accepted with thanks.
