Another daring act of piracy is reported. A Chinese merchant steamer, the Kwanglee, bound from Shanghai to Canton, was within sight, of Hongkong, when six pirates, of whom two were the ship's quartermasters, forced Captain Tollefsen, and other Europeans at the revolver point into the second officer's cabin. The Kwanglee was then taken to the pirates' stronghold where she was run aground. The pirates escaped to the shore taking with them £25,000 in loot. Six wealthy Chinese were captured and are now being held for ransom, The Kwanglee was refloated and has arrived at Canton.
