This wonderfully RICH FIELD is now workable by the discovery of a remarkable PLATINUM SAVING MACHINE, that has been officially tested and proved to extract practically 100 per cent, of the platinum and gold from the concentrate (see reproduction of assays below). z, Abridged Prospectus of the LATINUM LTD (To be Registered under "The Companies' Act, 1908." OBJECTS The objects and powers of the Company, as set forth in the Memorandum of Association, are primarily that this Company ia being formed with the objects of taking over from the Vendor, Walter Baxendale Giesen, his rights in respect of 4 miles of beach, situated Waiau Beach, Orepuki, and at present held under Prospecting License, and being in respect of a piece of land situate at the DESCRIPTION OF EXTRACTION MACHINE. This machine was brought to New Zealand by Mr.-W. B. Giesen, of Rotorua, who on a recent visit to the United States had opportunity to observe the remarkable efficiency of the apparatus when applied to problems like those represented by the separation of precious metals from constituents like the Waiau sands. Briefly stated, the secret of the machine is a continuous flow of electrically generated sodium amalgam over copper plates, so safeguarded as t:o ensure a hundred per cent, efficiency in the working of the machine, It is freely claimed for this apparatus that it will play as prominent a part in the reduction of the Waiau platiniferous sands as did the cyanide process in the low-grade areas of Waihi. Demonstrations of the machine have been made with samples of the sand proposed to be treated, and mining engineers have expressed themselves as astounded at its simplicity and the marvellous results obtained. mouth of the Waiau River, extending from the mouth of the said River to its west, approximately 4 miles in length and 3 chains in width, and also to acquire the rights to work, use, and develop an apparatus for recovering platinum, gold, and other metals, over which the Vendor holds the patent rights. DESCRIPTION OF LOCALITY. The discovery, or rather the rediscovery, of this plentiful source of supply of platinum is situated on the Waiau Beach, Orepuki. This southernmost extremity of New Zealand ia a geological treasurehouse. The never-ending battle between sea and land has resulted in the formation of at least two beaches, one of which lies about 6ft. below the otktr. The lower one contains the black sand, in which there glean* the steely-grey granules of pure platinum, about the size of coffee grains. The problem in the past has been to separate the platinum particles from the surrounding mass. The early beachcombers, with their primitive pans and cradles, found it mixed with the gold dust that they sought, and they found it difficult to separate the two. In those days platinum was only a few shillings per ounce, and this could not compare with the lqre of gold-winning. The requirements of modern science have changed this point of view, and the erstwhile despised platinum is now a prize.
