[BY '.tELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] TAURANGA. Saturday.
At a meeting of the Tauranga Electric Power Board yesterday notification was received prescribing a rate of interest of 5 li-3 per cent, that may be paid by the board in respect of a loan of £IO,OOO authorised to be raised for completion of electric works.
The engineer-manager's report stated that the greater part of the house-wiring staff was at present in the Te Puke area, where it was fully engaged in an endeavour to overtake orders for milking motors and shed heaters,« pending the commencement of the milking season. The severe easterly gale on July 11 and 12 had provided a searching test of the board's overhead lines, from which they had emerged satisfactorily. The only fault which \ developed on the hightension system erected by the board occurred at Katikati, where a conductor was broken by the' falling branch of a tree.
Mr. L. Mandeno, who is entering into practice in Auckland, tendered his resignation as engineer-manager to the board. His resignation was accepted with regret, the board expressing its high appreciation of the services of Mr. Mandeno. It was decided to appoint Mr. Mandeno to the position of consulting engineer to the board.
Mr. R. P. Baigent, secretary, was appointed chief executive officer. He will be directly responsible to the board for the carrying out of its business.
