FASHIONS AT ASCOT.
MEN ECLIPSE THE WOMEN. BRIGHT COLOURED ATTIRE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 u.m.) LONDON. July 10, Tho journal, the Outfitter, sums up the fashions as seen at tho Ascot race meeting. It concludes that men more than held their own as leaders of fashion, even eclipsing the women. ! 3lale- attire, it says, was refreshingly bright and variegated as to colours and the wearers tried out sartorial innovations with courage worthy of professional mannequins. The fashionable cclour this season was a* mixture of royal blue and silver which was most excellent for neckties. Coloured waistcoats were also very popular. . White linen spats were noteworthy by their absence. The up-to-date morning coat had a very wide lapel rolling to one button at tho waisHins. This is quite supplanting the two-button coat. The model; cut was corseWike in the way it is fitted into the figure. Black was very popular, but many grey cashmere coats and grey top hats were woyn. . »The Prince, of Wales gave ho new thrill, , but Prince Henry and the Duke of Lascelles donned grey hats.
