INSURANCE MERGER.

COMPLETING FORMALITIES. The last formality in the absorption of the New Zealand business of the Eagle. Star and British Dominions Insurance Company, -Limited, by the New Zealand Insurance Company, Limited, will be carried out on August 1, when the company's deposit of £35,000, held by the Government, will be refunded. Notice of this procedure is given by the Public Trustee at Auckland. In accordance with the Insurance Companies' Deposits Act, 1921-22, both the New Zealand and Eagle, Star and British Dominions Companies, have deposits of £35,000, held by the Government. In future the one deposit will be retained as applicable to the amalgamated companies. The New Zealand fire and accident business of the Eagle, Star and British Dominions Insurance Company, an English company, was acquired by the New Zealand Insurance Company three years ago. Referring to the transaction, in his speech at the annual meeting in August, 1923. the then chairman, Mr. O. Nicholson, said the business had been acquired on satisfactory terms and the directors expected it would provft lucrative under the comp?.ny's administration. Since then the Eagle, Star and Dominions business has been continued as a separate establishment.
