DOMINION COUNCIL. TOURING TEAM AFFAIRS. AUCKLAND MATCH ARRANGED. The Council of the New Zealand Rugby League met last evening, Mr. W. D. McLean presiding. A long discussion arose over a letter from the Auckland League seeking permission to stago a game between the best available New Zealand team and an Auckland representative side before the former's departure for England. Mr. C. A. Sneddon (Auckland), . who supported the request, said the local league nad made a financial sacrifice in connection with the trial games, and, moreover, tho public would like to see the League representatives in action. Mr. T. Touhev (Wellington), opposed the suggestion, and asked that a game bo staged in Wellington. He said Wellington was neglected so far as the trial games were concerned, and an exhibition match would greatly assist the code there. Mr E. H. Mair said he would be pleased to soe both games played, but the mattor had to be considered from the pamt of view of the risk of injuries, to which the representatives would be subjected. Mr. H. Millard opposed Auckland's request. and said the Southern Leagues were more entitleo to any exhibition games decided upon. It was eventually decided to gTant the request of the Auckland League, with the provision that the game must "be played on or before July 17. Mr.'McLean introduced the subject of s Parliamentary farewell in Wellington prior to the team's departure from Now Zealand, and suggested that Government assistance should be sought for a scheme of propaganda work already in hand. Several speakers urged that the financial assistance given to Blacks should also be extended to the League team. Mr. E. Stallworthy raised objections to any assistance being sought, and said tha' the League team was on a different- footing to the Rugby team. The majority of delegates supported Mr. totallworthy and k. was decided to empower Messrs. Swinnerton and Touhey, who will visit Wellington, to arrange the farewell. Mr. P. Rogers was appointed referee of tae A and B trial match to-morrow, and Mr. L. Bull will control the Possibles v. Probables match. POSSIBLES TEAM ALTERED. L. BROWN INCAPACITATED.
