AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

Activity in the mining section characterised the business on tjie Auckland sharemarket yesterday. The inquiry for Government securities was maintained, There was an accommodating movement in War Loans, 1938, sellers easing from £97 to £96 17s 6d and buyers advancing from £96 10s to £96 12s 6d. No business was done in any of the stocks. In commercial debentures, New Zealand Breweries were available at 26s 6d, the current price, a late buyer offering 25s 6d. In banks, Nationals of New Zealand were done at £6 19s 6d. Sellers quoted £7 for further parcels, buyers £6 19s. New Zealands had sale at 625, at which price more were wanted, sellers 62s 6d. In insurance there was firm inquiry for Nationals at 80s, New Zealands at 42s and South British at 61s. Holders of South British quoted 625. In gas, offers for Auckland, ordinary, improved slightly to 23s lOd, sellers being unchanged at 245. For the contributing isisue sellers quoted lis 9d, buyers repeating Saturday's offer of lis 7d. In miscellaneous, Henry Jones Co-op. changed hands at 47s 9d. Wilsons Cement were done at 33s 9d at the mid-day pall and there was late sale at 345. In mining, Alburnias sold at 4s 7d. Moanataiaris, paid, opened at 3s 6d and 3s 2d. There was sale at the third call at 3s and the market closed at 3s Id and 2s lOd Sales in the contributing issue were made at from 3s at the first call to 2s 8d at the third call. The market opened at 3s 2d and 3s and closed at 2s 9d and 2s 7d. Kawaraus had sale at 7s 9d and 7s lOd, Lucky Shot contributing at Is 5d and Waihis at 18s 6d. The following sales took place:— National Bank of New Zealand, £6 19s 6d; Bank of New Zealand, 625; Henry Jones Co-op., 47s 3d; Wilsons Cement, 33s 9d, 345; Albarnia, 4s 7d; Moanataiari, paid, 3s; contributing, 3s, 2s lid, 2s lOd, 2s 9d, 2s 8d; Kawarau, 7s 9d, 7s lOd; Lucky Shot, contributing, Is sd; Waihi, 18s 6d.
