BOOK-TITLE TEA.
An enjoyable book-title tea arranged by the Ever Ready and Literature Committees of the Victoria League was held at Rosslyn, Gillies Avenue, the residence of Mrs. J. B. Macfarlane, yesterday afternoon. The rooms were charm•c:ly decorated with autumn foliage and berries and the tea table in the dining room was prettily arranged in autumn tints. ' Miss Mowbray, president of the Victoria League, Mrs. Rickerby, convenor of the Ever Ready Committee and Miss E. Fenton, convener of the Literature Committee, expressed the thanks of the members to Mrs. Macfarlane, chairman of the Ever Ready Committee, who had so kindly lent her house for the occasion. Much entertainment was caused by the book-title competition and quick brains were at work guessing the title of the book from a word or phrase indicated. The winners were Mrs. Claude White and Miss Holland. A very gratifying collection of books and magazines was received during the afternoon from the guests who donated books for the league's back-block work.
